Get Help Replacing Damaged Furniture

Many people lost furniture as a result of Hurricane Ike.  But, there is a agency, The Furniture Bank, that is working to help extremely low income people replace some of their furniture.  The mission of the Furniture Bank is to serve area residents through local agencies and non-profit organizations.

They complement existing efforts to assist those that lack basic furnishings. Making empty houses homes means:

  • Children don’t have to sleep on the floor
  • Families can sit at a table together for their meals
  • Everyday items can have a place other than in a box

On November 9th, The Furniture Bank successfully completed a furniture drive to help victims of Hurricane Ike.  If you need assistance, contact one of their partner agencies, listed below.

The partner agencies can purchase low cost furniture vouchers.  One voucher is exchanged for one used piece of furniture.  The Furniture Bank is not able to deliver furniture, but there is a delivery service that you can hire for a minimum of $60.

Finally, if you have gently used furniture, or are able to donate some time to help with these efforts, you can contact the Furniture Bank at (713) 842-9771 or online at http://www.fb-houston.org/
