Career & Recovery Resources, Inc.: 713-754-7000

Career and Recovery Resources is a United Way Agency that can help you choose a career, give you job and computer training, help you write a resume, and help you find a job. The Homeless Outreach Program conducts employment-related workshops at local shelters and residences for homeless people. After the initial workshop, they follow-up with intensive case management and job placement assistance. They also have computers that anyone can use and they give computer classes in MS Office, e-mail, and the Internet.  The computers are located in the Hewlett-Packard Community Technology Center 2525 San Jacinto, Houston, TX

Houston Area Urban League: 713-393-8700

The Houston Area Urban League offers a wide variety of services, including jobs programs aimed specifically toward helping minorities.  Employment Orientation is held Wednesdays at 9 a.m., and Job Club is held Fridays at 9 a.m. at the Community Technology Center training.  If you are interested in starting your own business, the Houston Area Urban League also offers Business Alliance for Successful Entrepreneurship training twice a year.  Over a six-week period you can learn about things like legal issues, financial planning, marketing, professional development, e-commerce, strategic planning, business planning, taxes, and more.

The Northwest Assistance Ministries Rotary Learning Center gives teh following classes: English as a Second Language, GED test preparation, reading, and literacy.  They also provide workforce training and placement services to individuals with disabilities.

Workforce Solutions offers a wide range of services to job seekers in the the Texas Gulf Coast area.  They can provide career advice and help you find a job.  They are partners with the Texas Workforce Commission to have the largest job matching board in the state of Texas. Click here to find a career office near you at.  Each career office has free computer, fax, and telephones for people looking for jobs.  They also have people helping at many of the disaster recovery centers.
