Transportation to Health Care
Need help getting to a doctor? Area transit organizations are providing bus service to the Texas Medical Center until conditions return back to normal. Get more information, including bus routes and schedules.
The American Red Cross Community Services Transportation Program
The Greater Houston Area Red Cross is also providing non-emergency van transportation for people who need medical attention but do not have other means of transportation.
The Red Cross primarily provides door-to-door service to and from the Texas Medical Center, but you may be able to get a ride to another destination depending on the availability of drivers and vehicles. To learn more and to find out if you qualify, call (713) 313-1631.

- Texas state officials urge kidney dialysis patients affected by Ike to call a toll-free emergency locator service at 1 (866) 407-3773.
- If you are looking for a loved one who is elderly or has special needs, you can call 1 (888) 777-5320 (toll-free) from 7 am-7 pm CST. The Texas Department of State Health Services established this number to help people locate those with special needs who were evacuated because of Hurricane Ike. You will need to provide information such as the name, address, date of birth, gender, last known location, and medical needs of the person you want to find.
