Reconnecting with family and friends

It’s easy to lose touch with family and friends during a disaster. Here’s how to reconnect if you’ve been separated.

  • If you have to evacuate, grab your cell phone or pager.
  • Keep a battery-powered radio with your emergency supplies. That way, you can stay updated on important safety news.
  • Get a free Community Voice Mail account. This service assigns you a toll-free number so you can stay in touch with loved ones, as well as your employer, bank, and school.

Register yourself on the Red Cross Safe and Well List to let your friends and family know you are safe.
