Galveston

The city of Galveston is without much power, water and gas.  The city-wide curfew is in effect indefinitely from 6pm until 6am.  This affects all businesses.

Citizens are urged to boil all their water before consumption due to possible presence of bacteria

Floodwaters are beginning to recede but travel is still considered inadvisable and dangerous.

All Galveston County facilities will remain closed today, but a partial re-opening of Galveston County facilities located on the mainland is expected by Wednesday.

Galveston County and Community Updates
Bolivar Peninsula: Getting to the devastated communities of Crystal Beach, Gilchrist, High Island and Port Bolivar is almost impossible because of washed-out roads. Texas 87 is impassable and many parts are covered by debris.

Clear Lake Shores: Residents are cleaning up after a minimum of 5 feet of water covered the small island community on the banks of Clear Lake, Mayor Vern Johnson said.

Those who evacuated are being allowed to return, but Johnson warned that there is no power and a nighttime curfew remains in effect at least through Wednesday.

Dickinson: Evacuees are asked to stay put until at least the end of the week because of power outages and problems with the city's sewer system. A mandatory curfew from dusk to dawn remains in effect. For information, you may contact the Dickinson Police Department non-emergency number at 281-337-4700.

Friendswood: Some power has been restored to the city, but city officials are asking residents to stay away while damage is assessed. A curfew from dusk to dawn remains in effect. Residents who choose to return should be aware that the food supply is short, with dry goods coming in slowly at area grocery stores. Fuel is very scarce.

Galveston: Only essential personnel are being allowed onto the heavily damaged island. A mandatory and strictly enforced curfew remains in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Water service to the area surrounding the San Luis Hotel has been restored. As a precaution, it will be necessary to use bottled water for human consumption or to boil your water prior to consumption until further notice. Water use is limited to bathing and flushing toilets. The city is asking all residents to use the water conservatively. Residents also can report leaks by calling the Emergency Operations Center at 409-765-3710.

Hitchcock: Officials are not keeping residents who evacuated from returning but warn that the city is without power. A curfew is in effect.

Kemah: Residents wanting to return will face a citywide curfew from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. The community, whose popular Kemah Boardwalk was flooded, does not have any power or water service.

La Marque: Evacuees are being asked to not return home for another two to three days because the city is without power and water. A curfew from dusk until dawn is in effect.

League City: Residents returning to League City are being advised to bring enough food, water and ice to sustain each person for two weeks. Areas of the city are without power. There is water service, although water pressure is low. Residents are being told to boil the water before they consume it.

Santa Fe: Water services are intact, but only small areas of the city have electricity. Residents who use well water are able to access water only if they have power. Curfew is in effect.

Tiki Island: Residents are being allowed into the area with proper identification, but only to survey their property.
